Students who pay half fee for their studies at the Armed Medical College are known as Paying Cadet. To be admitted as a Paying Cadet, you must have an Army background. This means that only the children of Army personnel, regardless of their rank, are eligible for admission in AMC as Paying cadet. Only Army brat can apply, not civilians. Paying Cadets are required to pay the full tuition fee, but half of it is refundable. They are also known as PC or PCs. They are selected in NUST,NUMS and UET based on merit.

As, Civilians are not eligible to get the AMC admission as Paying cadet. But there are some other ways through which they can get AMC admission on merit base like, NUMS Cadet and Medical Cadet.

After completing their medical degree, either MBBS or BDS, Paying Cadets must serve their nation for at least three years. Because of their Army background, Paying cadets often have better chances of securing seats compared to other candidates. Types of Paying Cadets

There are two types of paying Cadets.

  1. Medical Paying Cadets

Both girls and boys are eligible to apply for Medical Paying cadets. They can get admission in AMC (Army Medical College) and NUMS (National university of medical Sciences).

  1. Engineering Paying Cadets

Both girls and boys are eligible to apply for Engineering Paying Cadets. They can get admission in NUST (National University of Sciences and Technology) and UET (University of Engineering and Technology).

How to apply for the paying cadet

All the important steps for the registration in Paying cadets are described here in the article. By following all of these steps you can register yourself for admission in Pak Army as paying cadet. To apply as a Paying Cadet at the Armed Medical College, follow these simple steps:

Take the Entrance Tests:

  • Take the NUMS Test: If you are interested in Medical and want to pursue a medical field (MBBS/BDS), you must take the NUMS entrance test.
  • NUST Engineering Test (NET): If you’re interested in an engineering field and want to pursue a Engineering field, you need to take the NET. Without these tests, you cannot enroll as a Paying Cadet.

Get the Application Form:

  • Obtain the form through all the station headquarters in your city using the OAS (Online Application System) in your father’s unit.
  • If your father is unsure about this process, he should ask the clerk of his office for assistance. The clerk will know how to get the application form.
  • You can also get the PC Form from the GHQ gate No 3.

Fill Out the Application Form:

  • Complete the form for Paying Cadets and attach the following documents:
    • Matric (SSC) Mark Sheet: Your high school marks sheet.
    • FS.c Mark Sheets (Part-1 and Part-2) or equivalent if you have completed A-levels.
    • Discharge Certificate/Release Order of your parent(s) from the military.
    • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from Military Colleges if you are a student from a military college.
    • CNIC/Form ‘B’: Your National Identity Card or Form ‘B’.

Submit the Application:

  • Send your completed application form and all required documents attached with it to the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Distribution of seats for Paying Cadets

Let’s clarify your confusion about the seats distribution. The seats will be distributed at ratio of 60% and 40% between and the retired Army personnel respectively. You might be thinking that there are no seats for Shaheed army personnel. For this purpose almost all the students are selected for the paying cadets.

How Many Marks Do I Need in NET to Get in Engineering Paying Cadet? 

It is most important to get good and high marks in NET ( Nust Engineering Test) exam for admission in Army Medical College as Paying cadet. Some important and necessary details about it is described here below in the following:

For the candidates whose Father is serving in Pak Army:

If your father is serving in Pak Army you need to score at least 110+ NET marks. And you must fall below 9000 merit numbers. The requirements are according to previous year. The current year’s requirements may be differ from previous years.

For the candidates whose Father is not serving/retired in Pak Army:

If your Father is not serving and is retired from the Army then you should have to do some extra effort for the admission in NUST or UETs programs. You should have to get 120+ NET marks and you must fall below 7000 merit number.

In the following departments, your merit number must fall between:

  • Mechanical Engineering: Merit number below 500 
  • Electrical Engineering: 1500-3500 
  • Mechatronics: 2500-5000 
  • Civil Engineering: 2500-5000 
  • MCS (Telecom and Software): 4000-6500 
  • Computer Science: 5000-8000. 

These are the merit numbers according to the various departments. You should try to get higher marks among them. The merit list changes its preference depending upon the demand higher education commission (HEC).

How Can I Calculate Aggregate?

The formula for calculating aggregate is simple:

  • NET 75%
  • FS.c 15%
  • Matric 10%

How Many Marks Do I Need in NET to Get A Medical Paying Cadet Seat? 

To secure a seat as a paying cadet in NUMS, you need an aggregate score of 83 or higher.

What Are The Ineligibility Conditions for the Paying Cadets?

Before applying as Paying cadets make sure you meet all the requirements of Pak Army Paying Cadets. Keep in mind all these requirements are mandatory. If you violate any one of these requirements then you will not be able to join Pak Army as Paying Cadet. Some important ineligibility conditions that you should avoid are described here in the following:

  • A candidate who is nominated for admission on open merit (based on the NUST entry test or SAT) in any Engineering discipline at NUST will not be eligible for the PC scheme and UET in the same year of applying.
  • The candidate must be selected as technical cadet.
  • A candidate chosen as a PC/ASC in any discipline at NUST or UET (for Army reserved seats in UETs) can’t apply again in the following years. However, if GHQ cancels the selection because the candidate was chosen on open merit, they can still apply for admission under the PC Scheme and UETs.
  • The Candidates applying for Army Reserved Seats in UETs across the country and failing to qualify for the entry test of the Engineering University in their related province.
  • The Candidates who have been released or withdrawn from any Defense Forces Training Institution or UETs due to disciplinary, academic, or medical reasons, or by their own request.
  • The Candidates who have applied for only one engineering discipline on open merit in NUST/UETs and the PC Scheme.
  • The candidates who don’t meet the health requirements of the NUST and are declared medically unfit for the admission.
  • The children of the Army, who were discharged due to discipline.
  • The children of ex-serviceman who have not served long to qualify themselves for the passion.
  • Children of the army personnel who are retired from the Army 25 years before the closing dates of GHG applications
  • Adopted or dependent children and other relatives of serving or retired Army personnel are not eligible.
  • The Candidates who are already selected as regular cadets for any defense forces institution.
  • The candidates who don’t meet the basic requirements of the Army Paying cadets. It is mandatory to meet the requirements for admission.
  • the candidates holding diploma are not eligible for any undergraduate program as well as NUST or UETs.

All of these conditions describe above here are the ineligibility conditions for the admission in NUST or UETs programs as well as for other programs of Pakistan Army. Make sure you don’t meet any of these eligibility condition, then you can apply for the Entry test to take the admission in these programs.

Which Mistakes Students Make To Apply For PC?

There are some mistakes which every student makes to apply for the Paying Cadet. The mistakes which make every student are:

  • Engineering students don’t submit the form before the specified date (which may change any current year) and Medical students don’t submit the PC form to the General Headquarters GHQ before the 31st August.
  • The students don’t apply for the NC seat. They think that they have applied for the PC and its enough and they don’t need to apply for local seat. But you have to apply for the local seat, Otherwise you will not be selected for the admission for any of the seats.
